In combination with the optimised pressing cycle, the inclusion of the inverter reduces electricity consumption without penalising productivity. It is SACMI's proprietary software that governs the inverter, dosing the power required for optimal management of the different phases at every moment of the cycle. The high pressure of the hydraulic oil (over 300 bar) can be used to recharge the accumulators. Furthermore, in this configuration, all machines are equipped with an 'Automatic Stop and Start' system: in the presence of production gaps - due to problems occurring downstream of the press - the hydraulic power unit stops and restarts automatically once the downstream line is restored. Together, these solutions reduce the total power requirement of the press by up to 25%, improving the COS PHI (energy efficiency) index. In this way, reactive power requirements are reduced, easing the extra cost of the energy bill and reducing the complexity of plant design/management.
